A MESSAGE:

CHAIRMAN JIM BUCHY

We continue to support ag education for every Ohio student. Educational professionals have made note of the positive impacts of agriculture education, in the cities and rural communities.

Cincinnati has added two more VoAg programs at Aiken and Clark Montessori Schools. There is also a city-wide movement called the 4-H Initiative. Cleveland also embraces the movement.  Agriculture education is being added to schools in Euclid, Columbus, Huber Heights Wayne, and Lima.

Since 2014 every major city in Ohio has made agriculture education a part of their curriculum offerings.  To support this, we need scholarships for more agriculture educators.

Your help in this mission is making a difference.

A PURPOSE:

The Agriculture Education Foundation is a private non-profit foundation to promote agricultural education accessibility and support agricultural educators.  While the foundation's efforts support all agricultural education, this foundation will put the highest emphasis on agricultural education that engages youth in the cities.  Students in the cities are the most under exposed to agriculture, yet many food producing factories and other agriculturally connected industries are in the cities.  As part of good stem curriculum, exposing youth from the city to agriculture in this manner will prepare them for these jobs in their backyards.  Furthermore, the values based components of 4-H and FFA have long been part of life in the country. This foundation believes those same programs play a crucial role in preparing young people for the work force and should be available in the city as well.

A RESOURCE:

Support agriculture educators in the classroom with financial resources connecting them to STEM curriculum.  Allow for more experiences in and outside of the classroom.

AN ADVOCATE:

Increase the number of quality agricultural education programs in Ohio by promoting agriculture education programs for those considering teaching and those looking to add opportunities to their schools.

A SCHOLARSHIP:

The three agriculture education programs in Ohio, continue to struggle attracting new talent to the programs.  Aid their efforts with scholarships for prospective educators.
